It’s been two years since my most thrilling life experience, which took place in London, capital of the United Kingdom and of the best places on Earth. It was thrilling because most kinds of emotion I’ve experienced there, from fun to boredom, from hope to fear.
That was the place I enjoyed most using public transportation. To a guy that comes from a country which transport is a problematic issue, it was quite amusing to have rides in the underground, double-deck buses and trains. This one, I’ve never experienced traveling, since that Brazil doesn’t have a good railway network. I felt great while discovering every corner of the English capital. In everywhere I went, there was always a train station.
Getting a job was a very hard task to me, since I have my limitations and I’ve never really needed to work to survive. Everytime I was at job agencies, my lack of self-confidence was evident. Most people never replied to my emails or even called me.
It was June 2007 and my mom and my stepdad were coming there to visit me. I was getting full of hope, with job promises at a Brazilian airline. Everything was normal, except by a fact. A criminal fact. The briefcase I was carrying with me was stolen at a restaurant called “All Bar One”. My mom complained and cried, saying “let’s go back to Porto Alegre!” That sounded to me like a death sentence. My hopes went all downhill, at an incredible speed (maybe the speed of the light) and I was forced to come back to the Third World!
Despite all bad things, there were good things too. The fact I went alone, on my own, was a tremendous victory. And the ability of searching for things I developed too. I would certainly come back there, especially now that I have a friend (Sara Motevali, a lawyer that lives in the borough of Lambeth) and who understands the things I feel and do.
These are my thoughts, now I’d like to hear from my readers. Don’t hesitate to make comments and share your opinions. After all, there’s always someone you can count on…
